Exchange Hi Lo Betting Selections

What are the betting selections for exchange hi lo?

In Exchange Hi Lo, there are two markets which are available for betting for any given game. The two markets each hold different types of betting selections. The first market is known as the ‘Correct predictions’ market and contains the betting selections for how far the computer will correctly predict the cards, i.e. ‘Card 1 or further’, ‘Card 2 or further’ etc. Since it is a Variable Handicap market it’s possible for all or none of the selections to win.

You can place bets on whether the next card will be higher or lower by backing or laying the selection related to that next card. For example, if the “Start” card is a 5, the computer will predict that the next card (Card 1) will be higher since there are more cards higher than there are lower. In this case, backing the selection ‘Card 1 or further’ is effectively backing that the next card will be higher. By laying this selection you are betting that the next card will not be higher.

You can also bet on many of the selections in the ‘Correct predictions’ market. For example, if you think that the computer will predict up to Card 4 correctly, but that it won’t predict up to Card 7 correctly, then you can back the ‘Card 4 or further’ and lay the ‘Card 7 or further’ selections. In this case, you win both bets if the computer predicts incorrectly on Card 5, Card 6 or Card 7.

If the computer predicts incorrectly on Card 1, Card 2, Card 3 or Card 4, you would lose your back bet, but win your lay bet. Otherwise, if the computer predicts incorrectly on Card 9 or greater, you would lose your lay bet, but win your back bet.

The other betting market is known as the Side bets market with the following selections:

  • 2 card run – 2 cards in a row in ascending or descending value order, e.g. 2, 3 or King, Queen
  • 3 card run – 3 cards in a row in ascending or descending value order, e.g. 2, 3, 4 or Queen, Jack, 10
  • 4 card run – 4 cards in a row in ascending or descending value order, e.g. 3, 4, 5, 6 or Ace, King, Queen, Jack
  • No Ace – the game ends with no Ace dealt
  • No picture cards – the game ends with no picture cards dealt. Picture cards are Jack, Queen, King and Ace

For the ‘Side bets market’, the outcome is settled on the cards shown, regardless of whether the card was predicted correctly or not. For example, if the Start card was a King then the computer would predict lower, and if Card 1 was an Ace, then the game would end. However, the ‘No Ace’ selection of the ‘Side bets market’ would be settled as a loser, because an Ace was dealt during the game.

It’s important to note that the Ace is always high, e.g. Ace, 1, 2 is not a valid 3 card run. Also, there is no wrapping, e.g. King, Ace, 2 is not a 3 card run.

The commission rate and amount matched (displayed in the Rules Tab) are specific to the 2 market types and whether you have the ‘Correct predictions’ or ‘Side bets market’ tab selected. The bets displayed in ‘My Bets’ are also specific to the market type you have selected.
